Thank you for purchasing Windsor by Northfolk LLC!
Here is our EXTENSIVE tutorial guide to make your life easier! See Design Specific options in the next article.
In your zip file you will find a file titled Resource_Files where you will see all of your editable PSD files for changing out images and buttons throughout your design.
If you are new to ProPhoto 6, you will want to become familiar with the Layout Editor and how it works. ProPhoto has amazing resources and documentation regarding the Layout Editor to get you started.
You will also want to take time to get aquatinted with Templates, since we use ONLY the templates to build the pages you see. You can view ProPhotos Templates and Designs overview tutorial for more information.
We have done the leg work to make the pages for you, all you will need to do is go to each individual page and set the template.
First, you will need to import the XML file included.
Once your pages are imported you can set your Home and Blog page in the Settings > Reading area and apply templates to pages. Then you can set the page templates, be sure to check both boxes for hiding page title and content for each page.
Complete the applying templates for all other included corresponding pages except the Home and Blog page, those are preset in the Layout Assignment area in the Customizer.
For more in depth instructions, you can view the Applying Templates tutorial on the P6 support page.
You will need to link all of your menus upon importing your design. Go to ProPhoto > Customizer > Menus. Make sure you are on the Default menu.
Before you continue to edit all of the additional page templates you will need to start with the Base. Your base template are items that will be displayed on EVERY page, so keep this in mind if there are things that you would prefer to only be on a certain page, those would belong in a Child Template under the base (i.e. Homepage, About, etc.). Replace all demo content with your own.
Windsor has specially coded fixed social icons for certain screen dimensions, once it hits the mobile orientation the icons will move to the footer, so be sure to link both the Fixed Social Media and Mobile Media blocks.
If you would like to use your own Logo PNG, just delete the Logo text blocks and add a new P6 Graphics Widget to upload your custom logo. If it is longer we suggest making a special mobile size (or adding the PNG as before and selecting the “Contrain to 1/2 width” below the graphic link. If you choose not to use a mobile specific widget, delete the block and in the row settings of the main logo uncheck the devices this row will be hidden on.
Windsor has a few Gallery headers for the templates, you will want to edit the galleries in the wordpress admin sidebar to display your images. You were given a Home Slide MASTER psd for the homepage gallery to give the look of uniformity as well as the extra space for the radio buttons at the bottom.
You can edit the Tiles shown in the Home page and then link those to their appropriate pages.
Important: All items shown in GOLD are the base items and settings. By unlocking the block/row/column will break the inheritance of the widget and thus will not auto update upon changing the base item.
The first thing you will need to keep in mind when working with our templates is everything you see on the demo site are essentially widgets within the Customizer.
In the SELECTED TEMPLATE dropdown, choose the template you want to edit and go through every widget to edit the content.
Repeat steps for all pages.
You were given a plethora of PSDs to help further customize your design, be sure to edit and save all appropriately so you are able to place your new images where need be.
If you would like to just make copies of each template so you can revert back there are just additional steps you will take. Hover over the template you’d like to duplicate and select Copy and name. Once you are on your new template instead of just clicking and editing the text widget, you will need to delete the demo widget and add a new one in its place.
If you would like to replace the demo text, delete the sample text widget, add a new text widget and place your text.
To make a new child template, go to the Templates > Manager and select Base and in the blue sidebar under the Base template information, select + CREATE CHILD TEMPLATE and name it as you wish.
Once you start editing your new template, you will need to unlock the Blocks so you are able to add new ones.
Go through each tile (formally known as buttons in P5) to change out demo content, font styles and images. You can view the ProPhoto collection of Tiles documentation to get familiar with the ins and outs of using and editing tiles.
